Shells and iPod

A bit of doodle while I was at Comic Fiesta 2008. It was awesome fun this year - lots of cool stuffs and persons as usual. Plus, the venue was a good choice. Unfortunately, my fever came back on the second day since the AC got cranked up (probably for the sake of cosplayers). Nonetheless, those of you who stopped by YonGumiX's booth, thanks for your support - we really appreciate it

GLOVES

It's been a while since I played with my markers. Also, I was test driving my new refillable brush pen. I don't really like the output - I definitely need more practice.

'R'

Among my favourite wedding gifts is a set of Mr. and Mrs. mugs. I had to ask, so leave it to Joe to put me in my place.

Doodled in ToonBoom Storyboard Pro. Yes, I should be working.

The new Mr. and Mrs.

I recently got married two weeks ago in my hometown, Kota Kinabalu, on the 25th of October 2008 to my sweetheart of five years. The occasion was very sweet and fulfilling since I was surrounded by loved ones who made it possible for us to have wonderful memories. I will update my wedding journal soon...

A new chapter

Bad Reception

This actually happened at work today. Whatever it is, I don't think it's a big loss. My colleague pointed out that it could be a scam.

Plus, I can always sleep in hotels any other time.

Piper...?

I was trying out a different approach on how to colour things digitally (by slapping colours on a different layer and changing its attribute to 'color' in Photoshop). I rarely ever do it in fear of it looking unnatural, but with some touch-ups and critiques, it works anyway.

So... by experimenting on the sketch I did way early this morning, I made a fan art! This might be my (adult, skankified) version of Piper of the Storm Hawks. Sorry Asaph Fipke... T_T

Blue

Detail of her face:Late night doodle. I should be doing work. Why blue? because I am terrible with colours. Also, I wish I'm really good with anatomy :(

Marvel Masterpieces 3

Marvel Masterpiece 3 is out soon, and thus the reason why it took me almost forever since my last creative post. I had loads of fun with it despite minor frustrations (way too many universes I can't settle for, very few clear references, art blocks, bad anatomy, sweaty palms, shaky lines, ink smudges, procrastination... etc).

Also, it was the best canvas to practice my new markers on! :D Thanks again guys, for the fantastic prezzie!

Below are my contributions to MM3. Captain Mar-Vell is drawn by me. On the right is the cover for the MM3 sets, done by the incredible and talented James Jean:

This is where I started going crazy with my new markers. A few botches here and there, but I'm quite happy with how some of them turn out :)

100 pieces! Done, approved, and over with! Whew! *lies down on the floor*

Cool Beans!

I've just celebrated my birthday last week, and I gotta say that I've the best and coolest family, friends, and colleagues ever! It all started out with wonderful birthday songs and well wishes at exactly midnight, and a blue package with a card on top that morning. How they managed to sneak these around me, I'll never know:

Sauron the cute kitty offering me a hint:
An assortment of cool and awesome folks:
The perfect yummy combo:
My precious first set of jelly beans:

That evening, my friends took me out to dinner at Secret Recipe, and the day ended with some phone calls from my closest friends and relatives; especially my sister, Fay (who was always there to keep my sanity in check).

Thanks everyone for this fantastic gift :) it's definitely just the thing I need to kick-start some maniacal creativity, and I promise to use this to its fullest potential. I really don't know how to thank you. I think the best thing about birthdays are simply the people I'm surrounded by... You all make my life a blessing <3>

Bye Steve!

Yesterday, Steve Bristow, who had been the director of Saladin: The animated Series for the past 2-3 years, treated us to dinner. This month is his last service to the project, so the whole team had put together an amazing creative PLUS wacky book of Thank You's (thanks, Sandra, for doing a wonderful job of compiling it :D). Although I don't do portraits, I just had to do this (below is my contribution to the book):

Note to kids: Horses don't go "WOOF! WOOF!"
(This is just an in-joke between the team)

No farewell is complete without a going away gift, so we also made a mock game card which consists an in-joke we've been passing around for years. It is definitely begging to be made! We are already getting crazy ideas from it >:)

The front of the card

The back of the card.
Thanks, Eisu, for the wonderful description:

"To be used when logic is absent
and ideas are out of control.
Use with discretion!"

The background for the frame

The (mock) finalized look after laminating the cards and framing it up. The cards also double as bookmarks!

The final product in a frame:

Prezzie time!

Unfortunately, I am remembered as the girl who screams a lot (I'm a jumpy person). But this is how we will remember you, Steve :D
The original Highway Star!

Thanks, Steve, for everything. Good luck in your future undertaking and be seeing you!

I should stop drawing girls.

KING redesigned

Every week, Pergh.com would have this character redesign battle, and this week's challenge is CAPCOM VS. SNK. The creative folks of Saladin Team got together, and my contribution is King of King of Fighters. She was previously a club bouncer under Howard Geese, and her fighting style is Muay Thai.

Her original design is just a maroon tux with a yellow waist band, and I redesigned her to some 1920's-1930'2 mob bodyguard after remembering Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal and Blacksad.

(Pardon the horrible anatomy and pasty colours. It was put together in 1 and a half hours just before coming to work, so I wasn't able to give it enough love :(

Desert Tales

While under the influence of Middle East... and after work. No, it's not Prince of Persia nor Saladin (the current project I'm working on).
