Courtship

Ick... This is how I know when I'm losing my groove again. I will post up the coloured version once I get it back.

They may be intelligent creatures, but they are still wild beings. I based their nature on lions - The males are larger than the females, and their only natural enemy is themselves. There can only be one male in a school of these folks, and he has to be able to fend for himself and his family or else another male will swim in, challenge him, and claim his throne. He will chase his male pups out once they are about to reach maturity. The older the males are, the bigger they get, and the more faded their colours will be.

Lapaaaaaarrr.....

I missed out on breakfast this morning.

Fire

A male companion to my female guppy. I based his colour on red devil squids, which turned out quite well on him; One of the many colour variations for err... handsome alpha males. I now need to rework their female counterparts.

Frolic

Someone asked me how the pup in my previous post would look like when she is fully grown, so here she is :) I referred to a lionfish, but I'm still not happy with it. I think I made her tail a little too long too. Oh well... another time.

I have yet to give her a name :(

The Guppy

I really like the mermaid in my previous post, so I gave her a proper design this time. She's just a pup (entering adolescence), so no definite pattern or markings on her yet (like most freshly-hatched fishes). I have yet to give her a name though.

Ink and painted in Paint Tool Sai, correction done in Photoshop.

Dums dums dums!

More fooling around with Sai. I think my favourite part is the hand and the guy in the background. Believe me, these two are better looking in person. I think afros are cool.
A gift to a friend's website, Silverhand.

The Fisherman's Son

Painted in Paint Tool Sai, fixed in Photoshop. Many thanks to Oddy, Sapot_Poleng and TakoyakiChan for giving me great pointers on how to make this look better, otherwise it'd look boring like the original below:

Mmm... fish food.

Doe

I really like one of my sketches in my moleska, so I decided to give it some attention. Done with Paint Tool Sai. Man, it feels good inking with it.

Hibiscus

The hibiscus is Malaysia's national flower. It would make a nice name for girls too.
One of my early trials with Paint Tool Sai. Really loving it. Photoshop Brush pattern is from Elbereth-De-Lioncour's Jakandara.

21 and Legal!

Many thanks to Aimo for introducing me to Paint Tool Sai, a painting software I used to paint this. I am absolutely adoring it right now <3My baby brother had better appreciate this :p

And just for the heck of it, I'm posting up the 'safe' version of it in case if anyone want to forward/MMS it to someone. Gotta love sprinkles. They are fun. By the way, please don't upload this into paysites. Karma is very bad for you.

The Shy One again.

The upper half of its skeletal frame must be pretty light if it were to support its full weight on dainty feet. I have yet to name it.

The Shy One

Deers and its likes are naturally shy creatures, unless if they are provoked then they will surely skewer you with their antlers or crack ribs with their hooves. Other than that, they make tasty meals.

I remember reading a Sabahan folklore once: A very poor but hardworking man and his dog were going about their orchard, but his dog suddenly kept barking at some mysterious clumps of coconuts. Confused since he does not have any coconut tree in his orchard, he took them home and planted them in his backyard.

Somehow, the coconut trees grew overnight, and it produced the best fermented coconut drink in the whole region. Because of that, he became royally drunk quite often and in time, neglected his family and orchard thoroughly. His wife became very sore about this.

One night, while he was passed out on the steps of their home, his wife took a machete. She climbed up the coconut tree, and then she began to hack the leaves off. In his sleep, the man was visited by a deity with the head of a deer. The deity scolded him; the coconuts were meant as gifts for his hard work, but because of his forgetful ways, the deity decided to take the trees back.

The man immediately woke up to his wife's screaming and son's crying. He ran off to his backyard, only to find the trees gone. He looked up to the skies, and found a constellation which resembled a bald coconut tree and its companion. Strangely enough, he spotted a figure clinging onto the bald tree. The man is left poor again, and worked extra hard to raise his son alone.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can tell me which book this tale is from.

It's Too Early For This...

Monday was a holiday, a day you're probably allowed to sleep in if you have no other plans laid out. Unfortunately, three out of four of my cats decided to get adventurous, and ended up unfolding a short drama for my whole neighbourhood to watch in the light of the rising sun.

Our feline companions managed to push open my housemate's bedroom door and discovered how fresh morning air is from his balcony, and then decided to see if the neighbour's balcony might have the same effect. Two of them returned after a few calls, but my brother's cat, Spunky, had ideas of her own. As a last resort, I had to wake my brother up so he can call her back.

I can imagine the neighbours staring from their balcony or window at three grown men (one being shirtless) and a woman desperately waving at a cat seated snugly (and I might add smugly) at their neighbour's balcony. Poor Richie had to climb after her anyway.

And since we're talking about cats on the same day...:

We had guests, so this fella here freaked out while I was carrying him.
I can never figure out how he managed to climb up the kitchen cabinets. My wound has healed up quite nicely, thank you.

The Obstacle

I can be quite lazy. I sometimes procrastinate. But sometimes, my cats won't let me have my mouse or tablet back.

Curious Object

Another sketch that was supposed to be a Mass Effect fan art. I really wanted to draw Commander Shepard. And then, I was too lazy to look up reference. Next thing I know, I can't even draw armor nor guns. In the end, it's a clueless space recruit looking over a puzzling item. An hour and some in Photoshop.

Thumb Jab

Another quick doodle in Photoshop (painting and erasing technique. I am aware that her head is too big and is at an odd angle). Influenced by Mass Effect, of which I am currently playing as customized Jane Shepard. Loving it! Too bad I can't romance Garrus :p

When did I...?

Influenced by Yaxin.
Some sketches on my forgotten moleska (I am sure I have plenty more, most of which I think I am embarrassed to put up for some reason... or have yet to be discovered again). I love inking manually. Now if only I can control the smearing....

Tree Folk W.I.P.

Some work-in-progress I did on ZBrush a while back (based on one of my sketches). Currently on hiatus, which is why it doesn't look polished and clothed yet. I will definitely post the sketches and complete model into my sister's collab site, Neither|World, once it's done.
